New Barn Farm, Ansty, Wiltshire
Private client
This site includes the remains of an 18th century farmstead, once belonging to the Wardour Estate. The isolated location meant various commercial businesses had failed and a residential scheme was proposed which involved the conversion of stables and a historic stone barn.
Built Heritage Consultancy worked with GHK Architects to produce a detailed Heritage Statement which analysed the historic development of the farmstead. We used the Historic England Farmstead Assessment Framework to assess its significance and the impact of the conversion proposals on the farmstead and the setting of two adjacent listed lodges, also formerly part of the Wardour Estate.
