Acacia Road, St John’s Wood

Private client

We advised on the renovation and extension of this Grade II listed 1840s villa, which forms part of London’s earliest leafy suburb of family houses in spacious gardens.  Our historical research allowed us to identify the significant elements of the building, and explain how its history of change had led to the loss of most of the important interior features, including many original walls.

Understanding this history of change in detail allowed us to make the case for a number of alterations to the interior, as well as a new basement and rear extension.  Our role also included researching design precedents and advising on the appropriate detailing of elements such as the stair balustrades and doors.
